An extremely on point article. I'm boggled with the whole "justice has been served" notion coming from all of this. To think that a lot of people see this as the end to the "war on terror" is also a bit confusing. I am all for ending the war, but when someone only says that after OBL has been killed is frightening. That means that they equate everything thats happened to the sole purpose of killing him. Lets take a second to regard the costs that it took to get us there. Or better yet lets ask the families of all of the innocent people in the Middle East. All of the people, American or not that were killed around the world due to the belief that Osama was the reason. Can they find justice within the bullet in him? Bin laden was not only responsible for the lives of Americans but countless others including the tarnishing of the name of Islam. Its important to note that not celbrating his death does not mean you somehow support Osama or are not grateful that it occured. Its about introspection and taking things beyond either celebrating in the streets or building a shrine in his memory.

  1. The death of Osama Bin Laden gives us an opportunity to ask ourselves: What kind of nation and what kind of species do we want to be? Do we want to become a species that honors life? Do we want to become a species that embodies peace?

That was interesting quote. As the United States the rest of the world analyzes and critique our actions. The article might be right, celebrating the death might send a wrong message. On the other hand I can not blame the people for celebrating his death. All we can do now is wait and see what happens next.

  2. After reading this article I find most of this stuff sounds like lots of this stuff was just said to please the people. There was no real evidence of Bin Laden's death. The showed a picture with his face and body smashed in, who knows who that could have been? The didn't show the body to us, and why was that? They were on the hunt for the guy for 10 years and they give us this little information about him relaxing on his porch. I don't buy it. They should have done the same thing to Bin Laden they did to saddam Hussein kill him live on television for everyone to see and not hide everything like they did.
