Thousands of demonstrators have marched through the South African city of Durban demanding faster action on climate change. However, there is massive resistence by the developed nations and the EU to support these actions in Africa.

The fact that the European Union is after a global agreement is not surprising because, as personal experience has taught me, Europeans value the air they breathe and the fact that they aren't currently submerged in anything but poverty. 2020 is a joke however, the climate change issue should have been dealt with by now as it is if developed nations such as our own really valued anything besides their own superficial prosperity.

I think that resistance from the US and the EU as well as other nations is unacceptable. They are the ones that need to be leading the effort in addressing climate change due to the fact that they are the ones that have the most power in changing it. I agree that 2020 is much too late to be dealing with climate change at that these powerful nations have neglected their responsibility for the wellbeing of the international community.

ReplyDeleteThe United States should be leaders in creating solutions for climate change. The US having the largest carbon footprint should be the first in line to address the issue. And 2020 is far away!!
