Ali Hassan Al Jabar was killed by unknown fighters who shot on the car he and his associates were in. He was shot three times but he did not survive after being rushed to the hospital. This was really devastating news since he is the first journalist to be killed, and hopefully the last. Al Jazeera condemns the crime since they know this is part of Libya’s malicious acts against Al Jazeera and their staff. Many journalists have reported that their equipment has been confiscated and many were arrested, detained, and beaten. Libya’s government has been watching journalists very closely and they have already tried to cover stories on the protests.
How far has Gadhafi’s regime gone, Are there any thoughts on this?

Gadhafi seriously needs to go. He cannot possibly continue being in power while many Libyans are opposing him. Stability will never prevail if he does not step down from his authoritarian rule. I feel that the protesters will achieve their victory in the end, but with a very high cost to pay for it. I am hoping for Ghadhafi's departure as soon as possible, so that the safety of the people is ensured.

Gadhafi's regime has clearly gone too far. It is sad to see an innocent journalist being killed. Gadhafi clearly knows his position in trouble when he has to resort to killing innocent journalist simply for wanting to report stories. He wants to be in power and he wants to be feared, and of course he doesn't want his name tarnished, but doesn't killing the innocent do exactly that? I agree with Mariam that protesters will get their way, but at a high cost. It is sad things have gotten this far and hopefully Gadhafi is out as soon as possible.
