There is a fear of a potential humanitarian crisis in Libya, a key city that has been taken over by military forces. The government tanks retreat during the day where they are attacked by airstrikes, however during nightfall they return and resume their attacks. Humanitarian agencies and the US have been giving supplies to Libya in hopes to aid their current situation. The US is currently unaware of their role in Libya, and it troubles many law makers that the there is no clear mission in sight. What do you think the role of the US should be in Libya?

In my opinion, I think that it is right of the U.S. to offer aid to Libyan civilians, but I think that that is as far as the U.S. should go. I think that it is a bad idea for the U.S. to involve itself in another war when we are already currently dealing with two other wars. It is also more the responsibility of the governments of the regions near Libya like North Africa and Europe to intervene if intervention is needed. In addition, a problem with intervening via military is that the people that are most harmed by the intervention is the civilians, when ironically the intervention was supposedly suppose to be in their protection. It also seems worrisome that lawmakers are unaware of the reasons of why the U.S. is getting involved in this intervention; I think it is our right to at least know what the government expects to get out of this war.

I would say they should help Libya provided there is something gained. We are in extreme amounts of debt and can't afford to doing charity all the time. I know this is not the moral point of view, but its realistic: government officials are always making deals, why not this time?

I agree that the U.S. should provide aid to Libyan civilians. But I'm not sure there is huge reason that the U.S. should interfere. We are dealing with our own issues, and to create more issues than needed would be very stupid. Also, we have our military fighting in two other wars, and to risk more deaths of innocent military personnel and Libyan civilians is not beneficial at all.

I think that any country facing a humanitarian crisis as that of Libya's country, do need the aid of other countries. When the citizens of a country are faced with an inhumane bloodshed by their own government, I think it is vital for other countries, like the U.S., to interfere. The U.S. is only doing their moral job by aiding those in need.
